Default Jan - Feb 2008 contest

i am pleased to announce the very first (i think) contest that Martial Arts Meta will be having for the members of the forum! there will be a total of 5 contests this year. 4 smaller ones (including this one) and one large end of the year contest.

The contest will run from January 1st 2008 until February 29th 2008 and it will be a contest to see who can post the thread that has the most replies.

the prize will be volume 1 (out of four volumes.... guess what the next three contest prizes will be ) of Bruce Lee's Fighting Methods books.

although i do not own this volume, i do own the last three and have found them to be very informative and benefical to my training.

Contest Rules:
- the thread cannot be a "game" or a thread to create a list
- the thread must be related to martial arts
- your own replys do not count
- if you post a thread it is automatically entered into the contest if it meets the criteria you do not need to specify that it is for the contest
- any replies by a member that is right after a reply that was also by them will count as one reply (and will be merged into one post)
- because the forum is still fairly small i have excluded the moderators from the contest (admin is always excluded ), take advantage of this, because i won't hold them back for every contest
- only threads posted after Dec 31st and before March 1st will count
- only replies before March 1st will count (if it comes to it, my time zone will be the cut off time: Mountian Time)
- threads must abide by the forum rules (ex: don't be beligerent to cause contraversy and thus more replies)

Tips:
- although your posts do not count toward your total, keep active on your threads to keep the conversation going.
- although you could make a thread like "Why did you start MA?", that only encourages people to post once, not several times.
- choose topics that interest you so that you want to keep them active.
- avoid topics that are similar to others, your posts might be lost to that thread.
- choose a good title to catch peoples attention.

Good Luck!!

feel free to continue to post threads that fall outside of these rules. for example i really enjoy the game that tntma12 started "say something about the MAist below you" and it would be a shame if you felt discouraged from making such posts.
