In my understanding, Karate is a defencive martial art, all about evades and blocks, then counter attacks of both puches and kicks.
In contradiction Judo is all about throws and tackles. It focuses heavily on taking your aponant to the ground, and then keeping them there in holds.

Then there is kickboxing, which was once described to me as being "street karate" basically meaning its a rough and ready version of karate.
Which isnt that far from the truth, allot of the techniques in KB are directly from karate.
