Default Fun "warnings" for beginners

i thought it would be fun to start a thread on all the things that you think beginners should be warned about MAs.

1) when your instructor says "i need a volenteer" it translates as "i need a gullible fool to hurt in front of the class"

3) This technique will work on EVERY person EVERY time... - When you try it on someone and it fails, you're gonna get hurt!

4) you will have no problem with your technique until you want to show it off, then EVERYTHING will go wrong

5) If you fell for number 1, when the instructor then says 'If your opponent is still struggling....' hinting that you should start to struggle.....DON'T!!!

6) Your technique will falter, even after five, ten, or thirty minutes of flawless execution, the moment you become aware of your Sensei's attention on you.

This is more "advice" for beginners than a warning. When you do a technique on your partner and you are new to the discipline then S L O W D O W N. If you do it too quickly then you are unlikely to understand what you are doing and risk injuring your partner but they will be too polite to tell you.

I know. It's funny, but at the same time, it happens. Sirdarling and I will complete a partner complex a dozen times without any major flaws (dropping our bo, that kind of thing). Then, Sensei comes around, says "Alright. Let's see what you've got" and we make it about two moves in before one of us messes up.

it is the stress i think. i work so hard to impress my instructors that i tense up and think about what i am doing instead of just doing it.

and i can name several times when i pushed my self extra hard to impress an instructor, only to get sick because i pushed myself too hard!

- dirt will find it's way onto a clean white gi even before you wear it to class.
- your clinching partner will always be the sweatiest smelliest guy
