Default About Martial Art Schoolssss

What to Expect: The schools are all about energy. When you walk in the door of one of these schools, there may be techno or rock music playing. These schools tend to be very clean and well equipped. Many offer matted training floors, weights, cardio equipment and nicely appointed locker rooms.
These martial arts schools are the place to go when you want to get in shape, have fun and learn new things, but aren't particularly interested in all the old fashioned cultural or full contact stuff.

Styles You Might See: This varies. These facilities can be really any style. What makes them different is the fact that they focus primarily on fitness and offer many different classes and programs.

Things to Remember: These schools are all about customer service. They will usually bend over backwards to ensure you are happy with your training

Thanks for the round up on martial arts schools.

Usually each school only caters for one form of martial arts, is this correct?
Or do they sometimes combine different styles?

I somewhat agree with what you are saying. I mean at my club there's mostly always techno or rock playing. But we also do full contact sparring and i think it varies from style to style whether you do or don't.

I dont think music matters here, what matters is the general facility of the place you plan to attend.
I always have a good look around and a good chat to the instructors to see if the place is suitable for me.

Actually, the trend is that most schools combine training from a couple of different martial arts to form their own "art". You can find schools that teach traditional forms of a particular style if that's what you're looking for.

In my experience, combining a few styles is usually very beneficial. For instance, combining Tae Kwon Do with a ground/grappling style is usually very effective. That way you learn to fight/defend both standing up and on the ground (where most street fights end up). It's always good to round out your skills.

In the end, do your best to find a school nearby and with a great instructor. The style is really secondary to these two.

One thing I loved about my old school before it closed because sensei moved away was Wedsday classes! Every Wedsday we would have guest teachers. Maybe Ant style Kung-Fu one time and then Judo the next. or whatever It helped us learn about other styles and what we might face if attacked by them and helped round us out as fighters. PLUS the change of pace was just plain fun.

yea, for workout music, you basically need hard-hitting euro-dance music.... nothing else does the job really. Search around on itunes for "euro club hits" or check this link: http://electricfilebox.com/tracks
