Boxing can be very dangerous, I once knocked out an opponent in a boxing match and thought he was dead. He was ok after about 2 hours but he gave up boxing because it scared him so much

Some people give up after bad experiences, but the true fighters never give up
It is rare you get really hurt in boxing, I know I never have.

I've been recently doing some training and sparing in boxing. Not competeing though, just for training. I like it. However I heard that it is quite dangereous, with all the repeditive hits to the head and stuff. Even more dangerious than MMA events like UFC and Pride FC!!!!
However, some may argue that! Everyone has different opinons-

There are pros and cons to both sides of the argument but I doubt that it is any more dangerous than any other sport. Accidents happen in every sport. Take boxing for example, one wrong blow could be deadly. Through proper training and not being "sloppy" some risks can be lowered.

I have only gotten hurt once or twice. Both times came from me not paying close attention to what I was doing. When it comes to something like boxing you have to pay attention. Those blows come kind of fast.

In all reality any sport can be dangerous. One has to be careful and use their knowledge accordingly. Accidents do happen though.

A childhood neighbor of my family did actually kill someone in the ring in the prime of his career. He was never the same.

I have heard of this happening. I could never even imagine the horror of it.
I feel for your friend, that is terrible.
This is one reason that I would not want to do any type of fighting/boxing. I will stick with sparring for practice with fellow students.

Boxing is just as dangerous as any other sport. But considering the fact that you you are always getting hit in the face, it may cause more damage than you think.

That can happen to anyone, not just boxers. Michael J Fox has it too.

There are risks, but there are risks with all sports.
Look at football or hockey, you can get killed in those sports too.
muhammad ali doesn't have parkinson's diseas, he has parkinson's SYNDROME... which was brought upon by repetitive blows to the head.
