The Secret of the Martial and Health Sciences: Methodology
Greetings in Peace, At this point in time several masters, that have been researched, have stated that the Real Secret of Martial and Health Sciences is Methodology. Methodology is defined as "the analysis of the principles of methods, rules, and postulates employed by a discipline" or "The development of methods, to be applied within a discipline" For example in Grappling and in manipulation: Principles: Turning Strategy: Encircling Tactics, Technique: Throwing, 1. The Practice would divide into practicing the principle of Turning thru deferent drills and or exercises. 2. The different types of drills Example: 2 Man sets with a partner to practice and use the strategy of Encircling. 3. When you are in free practice/application you could employee at Tactic or technique of throwing. What are ideas on Methodology? What are some of The Methodology (you use)? In methodology, the power of a method is inversely proportional to the generality of the method, the more specific the method, the more powerful. Greetings in Peace, Thank you very much for allowing us to participate in this forum, I hope our post is useful towards the Martial and Health Sciences. One of the reasons ,we stated “Secret”, In researching with Masters the stated that a lot of Systems (Schools) would keep their Training methods secret ,because they felt that was their way of getting results. The better the way (method) the better results. In methodology, the power of a method is inversely proportional to the generality of the method, the more specific the method, the more powerful. “Less meaningless repetition and more of mindful practice.” Master Xu Example of training Method: I. Health Building /exercises Stance work-Martial yoga For developing your strength, balance, flexibility, agility, coordination, and body integration. (Body dynamics), II. Shadow practice Drills, Short forms and Form practice. III .Equipment (apparatus) training. IV. Partner training, 2 Man sets, and application. *** Most important all of the practice (training above) -These exercises are done with, specific, ability development in mind and have underline -Principles: with a -Strategy that are for -Tactics, and Technique.**** (Not just getting in shape) but specificity training. For martial skill (ability). So that methodology is the real master key to a lot what is good in Martial arts in general. Taking that approach also nullifies a lot of the "well I turn my foot this way, and you don’t so we are different" type of arguments as well.
