Since I got a house and a yard, I've been trying to eat as local as possible, i.e., from my back yard. So far, I'm not that successful a gardener, but last year I did harvest some garlic, potatoes, and a couple small pea pods and carrots. There's nothing like the taste of home grown. This year I'm growing garlic, potatoes, snow peas, spinach, carrots, and lettuce. I also hope to harvest some broccoli, Brussels sprouts, melon, and zucchini if I'm successful at raising it.

I've also gotten more interested in natural, organic vegetables and fruits. When I kicked Coke a year ago (after being seriously addicted to the stuff), I found that my craving for sweets gradually diminished. I think maybe my taste buds are shifting.

You do realize I was talking about a Coca-cola addiction, right? :-)

I presumed (otherwise you wouldn't have capitalized "Coke") .

I've been growing some of my own veggies, too. About all I can get to grow well are a few herbs (basil and oregano, mostly), as well as snow peas, tomatoes, and peppers.

Yeah, most of what I get from japan are kombu and seaweed nori... doesn't weigh a lot. And because not many land animals eat seaweed, it doesn't go against my prohibition against eating what food eats. ;D

(I'll let you in on a secret: He eats lettuce, broccoli, and peas. I think he's part rabbit and ashamed to admit it, so he puts on this show to deflect any curiosity)

Yes, it is part joke and part truth... much like most of what I do.
I will also eat asparagus as long as it is done Tempura style which scientific evidence that I made up proves is actually healthier than steamed.
The Koala-fin was indeed delicious... but it can't possibly top the Panda-roo-guin that I had this new years, now that was a meal. I think the key was stuffing the kangaroo with multiple penguins.

Seriously though, I honestly try to eat fruit twice a day and veggies with every meal. When I was at the summer time campground we go to this weekend with my parents, there was a whole day where we didn't have veggies to eat, it was disgusting and reminded me of the eating habits I came from and how much better I am at it now.

Strange.
I love asparagus.
I also discovered wheat berries as an alternative to oatmeal. They take longer to make (around an hour, though it can take longer), but are great. Mix them with a bit of wild rice and quinoa, then load them up with fruit, milk (if you want), and sugar or maple syrup (again, if you want).
