Yeah, MMA is all about getting an opponent to tap out in a ring. It isn't about personal growth, which is at the heart of the concept of Jeet Kun Do.

plus, jeet kune do utilizes lots of practical self defence techniques as well which is outlawed in the ring or cage, so an mma fighter wouldn't practice those kinds of techniques.

This has always been my response for those who claim that mma is good self defense training. Sure, submission works for the standard bar punk who's just shoving you around, but what about the guy with a knife or the coked-out dude in the alley?

not to mention, in a SD situation you would want to hit vital spots and break limbs. i think that, or rather hope that, the vast majority of people would not want to do that in the ring.

Precisely. The coked-out dude is not going to respond to pain. You will have to actually disable him (hopefully temporarily). Meanwhile, if you do this kind of thing in the ring, you're likely to end up being kicked out of the league, if for no other reason than you're crippling the moneymakers.
