Default Getting Back into the Swing of Things After the Holidays

The holiday season is almost over. For a period of a little bit over a week, most people find their martial arts schedule disrupted due to meeting family, dojo being closed, and sheer exhaustion.
This can feel like a bit of freedom, and this freedom can make it difficult to get back into the swing of things at the dojo, especially if you've hit your first "plateau" at about the same time (as happened with me a couple of years ago).
This is just a reminder to go back to your classes or, if you practice on your own, get back into the habit of practicing. Try to remember why you got involve in the first place, and how much fun the classes are. Yes, they're hard work, but nothing worth doing is easy.

I know exactly what you mean.

I have set myself some goals for next year;
1. To lose between one and two stone by the summer.
2. To get back to regular training - the business has really got in the way of that this past year.
3. To start martial Tai-Chi.

By setting these goals I'm hoping it will give me something tangible to aim for.

i am so glad that you made this post because that is exactly how i am feeling right now. it is a little overwhellming to get back into things too. i have made a list of goals too.

1) train at least 4 times a week and start going to day classes (i am home now because i start school now and work only part-time)
2) start lifting weights and exercising at home
3) practice hapkido more so i do not start to forget parts of it
4) cut back on cigars so getting into shape is not so hard

..... and i am still playing around with one idea: see if i can go into the fighting end of things or look into another MA, because now that i have more time to train i want to get really serious about which ever MA i am taking.
