Default i had a silly little fight...

... and had a huo yuanjia moment, like in jet li's fearless where huo yuanjia sees his father fighting and is about to win but he stops at the last minute, and gets knocked out of the ring. lol

this wasn't really great to begin with... i got pissed off at a friend so i kicked him. like a tap on the leg, jus cuz i was annoyed. he kicked me back. i roundhoused him across the stomach. he threw my **** on the train tracks. so i took him down and started wrestling around with him. then when i saw i could easily have put him in an armbar and broke something in him, i stopped and stood us both up. well, we were still pushing and pulling n stuff until other friends came in and separated us, but when i saw the opportunity to really hurt him, i didn't.

that is really bothering me. first the fact that i was stupid enough to lose my cool and pick a fight with a friend... and second the fact that i didn't go all the way thru with really hurting him even tho i was still wrestling around with him like an idiot. it's kinda messing wit my head.

We all have those moments where we lose ourselves for a bit.

I think you showed great maturity and restraint in the way you held back on your friend; kudos to you sir.
Trust me, had it been someone seriously attacking you, I would imagine you would have done a lot worse.

Have to agree with my good mate Shirindo. Just because you CAN hurt someone doesn't mean you SHOULD hurt someone. You realised that he is a friend and just because you had a stupid disagreement doesn't mean that you should jepodise your friendship but seriously injurying him!

To me, this would mean that, even in the heat of a fight, your brain is keeping track even while your training is taking over. I agree that, if you had been attacked more seriously (if your friend had pulled a knife, for example), your brain would have allowed your training to keep taking over to keep you alive.

i have to agree with everyone here..... i think you should be proud that you stopped. how much worse would you feel if you did hurt him?? you feel bad enough because you got into a fight when it was not necessary, how much worse would you feel if you let the fight get that out of control??

the trick to being a good fighter is the ability to keep your wits about you even in the heat of a fight.

well yes... that's right and i did do the right thing by holding back and not hurting him. but something even more immature and silly is.... the reason it bothers me is because since it was around other friends... my stupid male ego is just afraid they might think i'm a weakling or something like that... since they know i take martial arts. now... i know what i SHOULD be thinking... but that's just what comes around to the back of my mind...

AH! Got it. At least you're aware of the stupid male ego. About all you can do is say "I see you, stupid male ego, and I accept that you are a part of me," denying it power over you. (It's still going to bother you, though. )
