I have dealt with many things like low self esteem, not being sure of myself and being overall intimidated in certain situations. I was told that studying martial arts would help me with those, and make me a better person all around. From what I have read and researched, I think it will help me a lot.

I started tae kwon do because eveyone i knew seemed to be taking it up. My brothers, my best friend, my neighbour. I went to go watch them, it looked like fun. After moving I started looking for WTF, it took a while cause there's only one WTF club in town, the rest are ITF or other, and well i've never looked back since.

Good question!!! I really can't remember exactly, but I think it was when I saw my first couple of Bruce Lee movies when I was really young. When I was little, I use to always beg my parents to let me go to a martial arts school. They always turned me down. I had some uncles two were boxers. One was into kung-fu. They use to show me stuff, then I had cousins that were into wrestling. I learned the basics of when I was really young.. But it wasn't enough. I began trying to teach myself and read about every martial art I could. Then one day when I was 14 goin on 15 My parents finally gave in. They let me start my first "offical" martial arts instructions.
It was something I just always wanted. I loved it so much, I guess I've always been a martial artist in my soul, and I just wanted and needed training to bring it out!!!

I got into martial arts as I kid because I watched several martial arts movies and thought it would be interesting. Once I started to learn more about it I became devoted to the arts.

Our Master often asks the students this question while he is testing them -"Why are you training in Tae Kwon Do?" It is always interesting to hear what people have to say. (Esp. the younger students)
As for myself, I would not know what life is like with out studying an art! Since I can remember my family has always been practicing. 15 years ago we opened our own school and I can honestly say that my passion to continue it as a lifestyle has only grown!

I enjoy the physical part of my training as well as the spiritual. I enjoy the people that I have met. I see the benefits of the discipline and respect that I have learned.

Evie

I did it because it was a way I could connect with myself and improve myself. Unlike most things you improve upon a skill and while MA is a skill it really depends on you as a human being and I liked that aspect about it.

I like the discipline and I think that maybe I saw Bruce Lee to many times and he sunk into my psyche.
