Well, a learning situation is a learning situation. I hope she catches the rat *&^$#^% by surprise with something particularly painful next time. I cannot stand domestic abuse. That people do this others at all bothers me, but that they do it to people that they supposedly love is just asinine.

Ah, that's good then.
I retract my last statement.

Geez, I'm so cynical. I've been spending waaaaay too much time around people in bad relationships...

ok have to add that it does not matter what you learn in the gym / dojo if you are not trained to deal with yourself first then you will lose no matter what , you have to control your mind and body in any confrontation and the most basic thing you should teach in self defence is to breath properly if you dont then you lose against your own body before you get your kickin ... everything starts with the breath...

very good point! i spent a lot of time just teaching them not to panic and to just trust their body. (which was fun, i basically just kept hitting them as random times to prove to them that if they remain relaxed their body will react correctly in time)... i also showed them how the paniced reaction of pulling against someones energy is not beneical and all that.

do not forget to teach them about the best self defense tool in the arsonal.... after the attacker has lost there grip hold or initiative is to run like the dickens and find help. the key behind self defense is removing ones self from the situation and being able to spot potentially bad situations before they arise. but thats just my opinion. OH yeah and don't forget the groin kick/ knee/ bite/ twist and pull, it works on females aswel.

Good post rolltroll the best self defence is not to be there or see the situation unfolding and leave before it gets out of hand , the only thing i would say is that biting to get a reaction is ok but i would say that in the times we live in i would not sugest you aim to break the skin, as you never know what some people might have ....
