Default Ninja Mysteries ... fact of fiction ;)

Intonjutsu is the art of escape and concealment. Otherwise known as the art of "disappearing". It encompasses such skills as Gotonpō , and Shinobi Aruki. These techniques are practised on occasion by Ninjutsu masters.

Gotonpō is the ninja art of concealing oneself using the five elements of earth, fire, water, wood, and metal. It is usually shown as a magical art in movie and television , allowing the user to perform feats of mystical power (Magic)
Doton no jutsu
"Earth Evasion". Includes concepts like raising clouds of dirt, burying oneself a few centimetres below the earth, using sand or dirt to blind the enemy, etc...
Mokuton no jutsu
"Wood Evasion". Is usually defined as the use of trees, climbing trees, running up trees, or various rope techniques.
Suiton no jutsu
"Water Evasion". This could be concealment in a river or lake, or using water for metsubushi.
Katon no jutsu
Literally "Fire Evasion". Smokescreens, explosives, pepper bombs, and tactical fires fall into this category.
Kinton no jutsu
"Metal Evasion". Shurikenjutsu is usually an important part of this. Shuriken, as well as other metal weapons, could be used to reflect sunlight into an opponents eyes, or act as a distraction.

interesting. i liked the explainations of each the terms. i can see how they can be interpreted both as something possible and something mystical.

That was the most potent trick of the ninja. Making himself appear more powerful than he really was. His opponents overestimated him so much that they defeated themselves.

Shinobi Aruki is a technique, used to move very quietly. The literal meaning is "Walking Style of the Shinobi/Ninja". It involves stepping forward but not transferring any of your weight onto your leading foot until it is already on the ground.
Silent Walking Skills:
Nuki Ashi - Normal Walking
Yoko Ashi - Wall Walking
Suri Ashi - Sweeping
Tsuke Ashi - Running
O-Ashi - Crane Walk
Ko Ashi - Small Stepping
Yukkuri Aruku - Crawling
Kani Aruke - Crab walk
