I think it doesn't look as good as the first Mummy, but it looks decent to me. It definitely is different from Jet Li's normal movies (which makes sense, as he's done with the martial arts epics due to their strain on the actors' bodies).
I'm trying really hard to look at it more as a modern fantasy movie that happens to have martial artists in it rather than a martial arts modern fantasy. Still, it's an iffy thing. It's very rare that a third movie of this type is anything but campy.

It's very rare for a martial arts movie person to become introspective. Bruce Lee was really, really odd in this respect.
I agree, though, there are a few martial arts folks I wish would spread their wisdom as they grow older (Michelle Yeoh, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, for examples)
