So I was thinking of posting something that would be a good eye opening topic but stopped short to ask a far more poingnant question:
If you could learn a martial art form from any Sci-fi or fantasy book, movie or play what would it be? ![]() I know mine would be the Jedi fighting style from Star Wars Ep 1.

I presume that you are referring to the art that Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon use... There are a few different "flavors" of the art, but that is the most prevalent in Episode 1.
The Gun Kata from Equilibrium would rock. So would the Monkey King's art in Forbidden Kingdom. But the greatest, I would have to say, would either be Cloud's Giant-Sword-Fu from Final Fantasy VII, or Grave's Giant-Pistol-Do from Gungrave.

Oh how right you are, Qui-Gon used Form IV called Ataru and so did Obi-Wan in that movie.
I also would want to know Buddha Palm from Iron Monkey and the "relieve yourself" move from Hot Rod too.

I'd like to third the Gun Kata plus would be interesting to learn Pai Mei's 5 point exploding heart technique from Kill Bill.....

The Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire Technique, Cat's Fist Technique, as well as baksai tenkets would rock, if we're talking about singular techniques. For that matter, the School of Indiscriminate Grappling martial art would be good. (Ranma 1/2)
But I just realized that my favorite martial art in any sci-fi/fantasy book is simply do, from Mage: The Ascension. It is the source of all martial arts, and only one who truly opens one's mind can perform it. In the game, it allows practitioners, even non-magical practitioners, to perform feats that would normally require magic to perform, up to and including surviving a fatal wound long enough to exact revenge upon your killer (the fable about that individual move involved a do master who was disemboweled in a battle and used his own intestines to strangle his opponent to death before succumbing to his wounds) This is closely followed by the shih hunters' art in Demon Hunter X.

Wow, lots of good stuff I forgot about. I guess expanding my imagination if I could learn to teleport like Hattori in Samurai Showdown that would be really rad. And I would love to be able to learn Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryu from Kenshin too!
Witness the fun I could have with that: "You better watch out belligerant person or I will Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki you in the face." Who would mess with that?
