Hatori is new to the dojo
Default Russian Special Forces

This Systema/Russian Special Forces Combat is not affilated to the Organisation that I train with. He might be a legitimate Speztnaz but the Chief Instructors in my orgainsation are world-reknowned and they credentials speak for themselves - They also do not call themselves Russian Special Forces Combat. Check out www.russianmartialart.com for more details. there is also a UK based website ran by Rob Poynton whom my mate Shirindo mentioned and I have know Rob for many years and he is a very well-respected MA in his own right but if ou want to check out the british website it's www.systemauk.com.

With regard to this No- contact training, it's quite genuine. It employs more strategic training, ie feinting direction, eye contact, evasion etc and there's nowt mystical about it.

Any questions please ask away mateys!

That makes more sense. Glad to see you back around again mate. (Not that I've been exactly prolific with my posts )

Glad to BE back mate. I've been quiet myself too (un-nerving a few people) but hope to chip in with the odd point of interest, pearl of wisdom or sacry comment (not that I tend to do that much!)

Like I said, it's not that I don't think that there was some basis in the technique shown. Rather, it does not happen in real life that two attackers rush your way, you step to the side, they bump heads and fall down.
Evasion, misdirection, planning, and intimidation have a place in every self defense martial art. The art that doesn't teach these things is leaving a gaping hole in its students' training. I am living, walking proof that such techniques work to get through life with minimal physical conflict (I have been seriously struck twice in my life, I have never had the need to strike back). But anyone who tells me that they can reliably send someone tumbling to the ground by moving to the side is going on my list of "crazy martial artists."

i agree with you hatori, but they do say "SECRET NO-CONTACT COMBAT" so i am still saying that this school is not legit..... but i do not think that of the style in general.

The area of concern I have is that with my Organisation the 2 Chief Instructors Vladimir Vasiliev and Mikhail Ryabko are quite discreet about their past in the Special Forces as most of it was, as probably still is, classified. They rarely publicise their "achievements" or "qualifications" unlike some other organisations. Also they are the most humble men I have ever met. After a seminar with Vladimir, he walked around the hall shaking hands with every single person in attendance and when he said thankyou, I was so overwhelm by how humble he is. As they say "with ability comes humility"

I've just been on the Spetznaz website and watched some of the video clips. Bizarely he does a "Self Defence in the Office" scene which Vladimir Vasiliev also does but what is quite remarkable is that not only are the exact same techniques demonstrated in the Spetnaz clip found in Vladimir's DVD but the Speztnaz gentleman seems to be impressed by Vladimir's fashion sense too as he's chosen to wear the same suit!!!! Check it out, it's hilarious!!!

Pretty creepy.
There are wannabes and fakers in every art. People who want to be like a particular martial artist, or people who want to make money off of that person's reputation. This seems to be a case of the latter.

If this thread hadn't generated such an interesting discussion, I'd delete it.

well i see i missed a pretty interesting debate. I did find some video of the ma on you tube but nothing about instructors in the area. it seems you can find sambo instructors in north america now.

I had seen a little footage of speznaz demos when i was in the army but not much to draw a conclusion on. i would have to say that it is probably like any other MA or hand to hand training in the military, you get the flavor of what the command at the time wants you to have, but you always get weapons and squad tactics.
