Default Speed, strength, and skill

"Speed without skill is unfocused, ineffective. It's little more than <waving your hands around wildly>.
Strength without skill is brute force. It's sloppy and improperly directed.
Speed and strength are both important in <the martial arts>, but without skill to bind them together and direct them, they are worthless."
This was said by Sempai this past weekend. I think it's a pretty apt statement.

excellent message! i always hated training students that were mid-level because they did not get that. they would have fairly good technique by then, so they would try to just do things as fast, high, and as strong as possible even though their technique would be horrible. and it was nearly impossible to get them to see their error. MA training is like growing up. you start as a baby knowing nothing and having everyone fuss about you. as a child you slowly learn, but are still immature and get frustrated easy. then you are a arrogant teen. followed by a sophisticated adult, ending as a wise mature student.

A great movie, eYoon.
The original post is a pretty good message, as well.
