Great martial artist's resource: David Lowry

Whether you are interested in the art of kenjutsu in particular, or are just interested in the philosophy of the Japanese arts, David Lowry is an excellent writer.
As a youth, he approached a Japanese man who was rumored to know how to use a sword and asked to receive training. He soon entered into a very traditional method of learning to use the sword: one master and one student.
As an adult, Lowry has written many books passing on his knowledge, and one book talking about his training as a youth.
The books that I have read are:
Bokken This is a more practical book than much of what Lowry has written. It speaks about particular techniques. However, there are also philosophical undertones to the book.
Autumn Lightning A memoir of Lowry's training. A good book for every martial artist. The grueling training regimen that Lowry went through is likely to make the training that most of us go through look like a walk in the park. It is also a good look into the mindset of the Japanese martial artist, and a good book to gain an insight into Japanese culture.
Sword and Brush Lowry details the kanji for many martial arts terms and delves into their deeper meaning, as well as the deep meaning of their crafting.

Lowry has many more books, and I will eventually get my hands on them and read them. He is my favorite martial arts writer, and I suggest his writing to everybody.
