What do you feel to be the most important aspect in studying weapons?

I tend to find that it provides more strength and power in my other techniques, but I really study weapons arts because of my longing to be samurai. I have also always been facinated by weapons of every make and model. I mimiced Mad Martigan from Willow even when I was 10 or so when the movie came out, I pretended to be He Man with his sword and I studied all the martial arts movies I could for as long as I can remember. But I always paid more attention to the weapons forms than the unarmed.

I have always tried to use a weapon in a manner that my body is still moving in the same way as if I were unarmed.

It's because I'm completely lazy and I dont wish to learn a second/third/fourth way of footwork etc etc

SDS and I would do that when we were first learning bo... well probably just me doing it... and sensei would just show us that he could shove us over a lot.
I think a lot of people don't focus on weapons as much as I have in the past, like it is more done just because their style wants them to do it.

Improvement in general. Strength and speed are improved, as are the mind and spirit. Not only do these things affect your martial skills, but your day to day life. This is one of the reasons that I want to study naginata. There is little practical purpose to learning it, so I won't be bogged down by all of the self defense knowledge that people apply to different weapons.

although i do not know and weapons, i do want to eventually learn them. i would like to learn to use guns because that seems practicle, swords because it looks wicked cool, and more practical things like bo, cane, knife, things that you could find sorta easy to make an imporvised weapon.......

....... but then again i have always wanted to be a hero and take down a band of terrorists, so 'practical' is a very loose term.

That is actually the way I always tell people I want to die! Though my wish stems around saving a bus full of Hawaiian Tropics models.

This is, at least partially, a joke on Sirdarling's part. His life wish is to die saving a bus full of (Swedish/Hawaiian/Japanese) (Bikini Models/Pop Idols) so that in The Afterlife (which he no longer believes in), they will be beholden to him.
